Compressed Interactive Video is used for distance education and provides a way for the instructor and students in different locations to interact audiovisually in realtime. For a closer look at how CIV works, visit the NWACC Distance Learning site.
The College of Education and Health Professions has two CIV rooms (GE 340 and GE 343). Room 340 seats 24 students and room 343 seats 48 students.
Requests for CIV scheduling should be submitted as early as possible. Classes should have requests in one month before the beginning of the semester and special events should submit their information one month in advance. Due to the limited CIV facilities, it is not possible to guarantee every event.
Instructors should request training before classes begin as IMS does not have a CIV technician available for every event. An instruction manual is available in both CIV rooms. Each manual includes a Quickstart guide, full instructions, a troubleshooting guide, and a list of CIV site contact information. To request training on CIV equipment, contact Interactive Media Services at 575-5117 or ims@uark.edu.
