Here are some of the degrees offered by the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions which can lead to a career in health promotion.
The Bachelor of Science in Education in Communication Disorders prepares students for graduate level studies in speech-language pathology and audiology or graduate level coursework in other educational and health related professions.
The Bachelor of Science in Education in Health Science prepares students for a variety of careers in health promotion and health education, including with hospitals and community agencies, as well as to enter graduate programs of study.
The M.A.T. in Physical Education is the initial teaching certification program for students in the physical education program.
The M.S. in Health Science prepares students for career opportunities in health care planning, direct clinical or hospital-based patient education programs and public school teaching.
The online Master of Science degree in nursing will prepare graduates to serve as clinical nurse specialists for adults with medical/surgical health problems. Clinical practicum courses require students to be in clinical settings three contact hours per week. The program is cohort-based and can be completed in 2 1/2 years as a full-time student or in 3 1/2 years as a part-time student. Students may begin either cohort in the Fall semester of 2007.
The M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology ensures that degree candidates meet the minimum academic and clinical practicum requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
