Test Requirements for University of Arkansas Students

Praxis I and Praxis II qualifying score requirements are subject to change by the Arkansas Department of Education. Always check the Praxis Web site for the latest qualifying score requirements.

Pass Praxis I-Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) or Computerized Pre-Professional Skills Test (CPPST) (recommended after completion of MATH 1203 or higher and ENGL 1013/ENGL 1023) Current passing scores required are:

Reading      172                        Writing      173             Math_____171_____

Download information and register at www.ets.org/praxis  These tests are given once a month, and you must register at least one month prior to the test date.

For computer based Praxis I, contact Testing Services at 575-2743 - given more than once a month.  Most students complete the computerized or CPPST test given at Testing Services on campus.

Test at a Glance (TAAG) study guide booklets are available online from ETS.  There is no fee for this study guide booklet. Go to www.ets.org/praxis and find this information under “Prepare for a Test” for Test Takers.

Pass Praxis II subject/content area: For students in the secondary education program of study check with your secondary faculty advisor for appropriate time to complete the content portion of Praxis II.  This is completed no later than early August prior to your internship experience of the M.A.T. Praxis II Pedagogy/Principles of Learning and Teaching will be completed during your internship experience.

For students completing a student teaching experience, Praxis I and Praxis II content area tests must be taken and passed before beginning your student teaching. Praxis II Principles of Learning and Teaching will be taken during your student teaching semester. Check with your faculty liaison for appropriate time to take the PLT test.

Elementary Education and Middle Level Education majors check with your faculty advisor for appropriate time to complete the content portion of the Praxis II exam. U of A students attending on the NWACC campus should check with your faculty advisor for appropriate time to complete this requirement. Make sure to pick the tests required for Arkansas.
