College Council Minutes October 12, 2007

Dean Greenwood

Dean Greenwood advised the Council of the issues that concern him. Please refer to handouts provided by him.

After much discussion of his report, the Dean indicated he would like faculty input on whether we can continue to support all programs. Is there a mechanism available to decide if programs should be let go? Should we look at compression or GA stipends? He would like help in identifying priorities.

Members chose subcommittees to attend as follows:

  • Annual Evaluation: Chaired by Tom Smith – Merry Moiseichik and Bill McComas
  • Promotion and Tenure: Chaired by Michael Daugherty – Felicia Lincoln and Gary Ritter
  • Workload: Chaired by Michael Miller – Mike Wavering and Ellen Odell
  • Administrative Review: Chaired by Sharon Hunt – Fran Hagstrom and Angie Smith-Nix

One faculty member besides Merry will attend the general meeting for Personnel Document

  • Angie Smith-Nix will attend 10/22
  • Fran Hagstrom will attend 11/5

Issues

Barbara Hinton reported that she is reorganizing the graduate catalog by department so that it is easier to use.

Provost Smith would like to visit with the Council about the Dean’s search. We did not determine when the best time for this would be as there are many pressing issues.
