Faculty and Staff of the College
Colleagues,
I have been in discussions with Interim Provost Bob McMath about my plans to retire as dean of this college. And recently, I informed him of my decision to retire effective June 30, 2009.
As you may know, this was the date that was selected sometime ago and plans were set to start a search for a new dean in the spring semester 2008. However, because of the changes in leadership at the university, the decision was made to suspend the search.
Bob McMath will be initiating a national search for a new dean as soon as possible with the expectation that a replacement will be available July 1, 2009.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my seven plus years in this position and appreciate the support that has been provided to me and the dean's staff over the years. Much has been accomplished during that time as a result of the efforts of our faculty, staff and students.
The next ten months will be a time of transition for me and I fully expect to return to the faculty following an off-campus duty assignment. I ask that you do everything you can to support the search and the college during the remainder of this academic year.
Thanks again for the many kindnesses that have been shown to me and for your efforts on behalf of the residents of Arkansas to improve education and health across this great state and beyond.
Sincerely,
Reed Greenwood
Dean
