Gretchen Oliver to Discuss Active Lifestyles at Jones Center Seminar

Gretchen Oliver, assistant professor of kinesiology at the University of Arkansas, will present the keynote address Thursday, Oct. 2, at an all-day professional development seminar.

Oliver will deliver an address called "Be Strong to Live Strong" at 9 a.m. to kick off "Strengthening Our Community by Strengthening Workforce Skills" presented by the Jones Center for Families. The event at the Jones Center, 922 E. Emma Ave. in Springdale, costs $15 for students and $25 for professionals. Registration is due by Sept. 23. Oliver, who earned her Ph.D. in biomechanics from Texas Woman's University, serves as clinical coordinator of the graduate athletic training education program in the College of Education and Health Professions. She will discuss the benefits of an active lifestyle and describe ways to become active.

Other presenters during the seminar include two more from the College of Education and Health Professions: Kit Kacirek, associate professor of adult education, whose topic is "Social/Emotional Intelligence: Myths and Metrics," and Judith Tavano, director of the Professional Development Academy, whose topic is "The Workplace Today: Four Generations Strong."
