Originally from Gentry, Ark., Natalie Edmondson is an alumna of the University of Arkansas. She graduated from Gentry High School and after a brief stint in North Carolina, she moved back to Arkansas and graduated from the university in 2004 with her bachelor of science degree in business administration, majoring in accounting.
Why did Natalie move back to Arkansas?
She likes to go to Razorback games. "I'm a die-hard Hog fan," she said, "and the people and places are beautiful."
Natalie is not just a football fan, either. She enjoys going to Razorback baseball and basketball games as well.
When Natalie first started as an accountant in the Office of the Associate Dean for Administration in the College of Education and Health Professions, she managed grants and foundation funds. She now manages state funds for the college.
On a daily basis, she reconciles cost centers' accounting books. She manages 80 cost center books and creates a detailed summary report for each center for each month.
Natalie also processes receiving entries on charges within the college. This includes all of the individual areas such as nursing, health sciences and the speech and hearing clinic.
Natalie also approves changes and corrects charges in invoices, making sure state funding is available for purchases.
Her busiest time of year is at the beginning of the academic year when supplies are initially bought and also at the end of the year, when the departments are busy to spend state money.
So does Natalie like her job? It's a good environment even though parking is bad at times, she said.
"I don't have a big, fancy job, but I have an office," she said. "The college is really supportive and meets your perceived needs."
What are her interests?
She enjoyed this year's political season. "It is an interesting time in the United States," she said. "I like to observe the changes."
She enjoys teaching. Last school year during her lunch breaks from the university, Natalie taught pre-calculus to seniors at Fayetteville Christian School, a private school funded by the church she attends. She also taught algebra while she was still in college.
She enjoys church. "Church is my main focus and passion. I like going to church and fellowshipping with people," she said.
She enjoys being outdoors, working out, reading and cooking. Lastly, she likes a good night's sleep. "I'm pretty zealous about that," she said.
She keeps a candy bowl in her office to lure people to visit. Stop by and have a Rollo.
