Welcome to the Office of Academic Affairs. We are committed to the College of Education and Health Professions goal of "strengthening the academic quality and reputation of the college by developing and enhancing programs of excellence in teaching, research, and service."

Our staff manages course and program planning, processes student petitions, assists the work of the Honors Program, oversees program accreditations, represents the college both internally and externally on key academic committees, provides faculty and staff with a variety of professional development experiences, and leads strategic planning initiatives to ensure the integrity and quality of all our academic programs. We work closely with the Boyer Center for Student Services and with our faculty to reach the college goal of "improving the quality and diversity of our students, faculty, and staff, and increasing the size of our student enrollment" through exemplary recruitment and advisement services.

The Office of Academic Affairs is located in 320 Graduate Education Building and is open weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Application for Undergraduate Student Graduation (except off campus HRD and ELEL students)

Undergraduate students should apply for graduation at least one semester before they plan to graduate. This is the process for application for graduation:

  1. Students should see Denise Bignar (GRAD 314) to pick up their card to apply for graduation.
  2. Students should immediately take the card to the Registrar's Office and pay the graduation fee.
  3. The Registrar's Office sends a weekly list of students who have applied to graduate at the end of the current semester to Denise. Denise performs a pre-graduation certification for students on this weekly list and notifies students and their faculty advisors of courses remaining and any barriers to timely graduation.
  4. Denise runs a weekly query to identify students who have applied for graduation for future semesters. When all students for the current semester have been pre-certified, Denise begins pre-certification for students who plan to graduate in future terms and notifies those students and their faculty advisors of courses remaining and any barriers to timely graduation.
  5. Denise Bignar performs the final, official graduation clearance after grades are posted and candidate lists are sent by the Registrar's Office.

All undergraduate students with 85+ hours will be sent an e-mail and other efforts will be made to ensure that students apply for graduation early and receive their pre-graduation certification done by the Office of Academic Affairs.
