Daugherty inducted

Michael Daugherty, University of Arkansas professor of technology education, was recently inducted into the International Technology Education Association Academy of Fellows at the academy's conference in Louisville, Ky.

The induction is the highest recognition the association bestows. To qualify, the individual must have gained prominence in and brought honor to the profession of technology education. Nominees are considered based on leadership roles in the association and other affiliate organizations, presentations and professional development activities at local to international level, and recognition by peers.

Daugherty taught technology education at Illinois State University and the University of Arkansas before he became head of the department of curriculum and instruction in the College of Education and Health Professions.

He recently completed his second three-year elected term as secretary of the Council for Technology Teacher Education, a national organization that awarded him its technology teacher educator of the year award in 2003. He also won an award of distinction for excellence in teaching, research and scholarship from the International Technology Education Association.
