Arkansas Leadership Academy Introduces New Logo

The Arkansas Leadership Academy based in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas unveiled a new logo this fall. The academy offers professional development opportunities for the state's educators.
Barry Goodwin and Bryan Carr of Wal-Mart Inc., one of the academy's 44 partners, designed the new logo and presented the academy with it and display materials. Two large display boards feature background information about the academy, information about its institutes and pictures and quotes from academy participants and partners. Brochures were also provided.
The logo, created with input from the academy's staff and other partners, features the same shield shape as the former academy logo with multiple meanings. The three rays symbolize the three facets of the former logo: education, community and technology. They also symbolize traveling the path toward developing leadership capacity as well as hearkening to the Railroad Track, a familiar tool used by the academy to promote both results and relationships.
The logo is featured on the academy's monthly newsletter, "Academy Action."
The academy has provided leadership training to more than 10,000 educators since it was created by the Arkansas Legislature in 1991. Its partners include universities, professional associations, educational cooperatives, state agencies, businesses and private foundations. Academy offerings include institutes for superintendents, central administrators, principals, assistant principals, teachers and teams and a recently expanded school support program.
Debbie Davis, a former Arkansas school principal who holds a doctorate in education from the university, directs the academy. The academy can be found online at http://www.arkansasleadershipacademy.org/.
