Faculty and Non-Classified Staff Awards

The College of Education and Health Professions honors faculty and staff members each year for their teaching, research and service to the college and the University of Arkansas. Award recipients are selected by the College Council and recognized at the college's annual meeting on Friday, May 3.

The nomination period for this year's awards has closed.

The COEHP Awards Committee will present awards in the following categories:

 

1. Innovative Teaching Award

2. Significant Research Award

3. Outstanding Mentoring and Advising Award

4. Superior Service Award

5. STAR Faculty Award (all around Service, Teaching, Advising, and Research)

6. Rising STAR Award (for New Faculty)

7. Faculty Career Award

 

For the first time this year, the COEHP Awards Committee will also present a Superior Service Award to recognize the accomplishments of non-classified staff members in the College. Up to three non-classified staff members will be selected to receive the following award:

  • Sean Connors, assistant professor of English education, Innovative Teaching Award. Read more
  • Karee Dunn, assistant professor of educational statistics and research methods, Rising STAR (service, teaching, advising and research) Faculty Award given to the outstanding all-around new faculty member. Read more
  • Mounir Farah, professor of secondary education, Faculty Career Award. Read more
  • Christian Goering, assistant professor of secondary education, Superior Service Award. Read more
  • Jay Greene, holder of Twenty-First Century Chair in Education Reform, Significant Research Award. Read more
  • Marcia Imbeau, associate professor of special education, Mentoring and Advising Award. Read more
  • Kate Mamiseishvili, assistant professor of higher education, STAR Faculty Award given to the outstanding all-around faculty member. Read more
  • Gary Ritter, holder of Twenty-First Century Chair in Education Policy, Superior Service Award. Read more

Tentative Timeline for Award Nomination Process

January 2013 -- Dean sends out COEHP annual award notification memo; committee begins accepting nominations
February 2013 -- Nominations for university awards due to dean's office.
March 2013 -- Final date for nominations for COEHP awards to be submitted electronically to dean's office
May 2013 -- Award winners recognized at annual year-end faculty and staff meeting
