Professional Biography:

Dr. Bengtson worked as a research assistant in the department of educational administration and policy at the University of Georgia from 2006 to 2010. He assisted with research, teaching and curriculum development.

Prior to that, Dr. Bengtson served as principal of Fairplay Middle School in Douglasville, Ga., from 2002 through 2005. He held the position of assistant principal at Stewart Middle School in Douglas County from 2001 through 2002, at CrossRoads Alternative School in Douglasville from 1999 through 2001 and at Jefferson Davis Middle School in Hampton, Va., from 1998 through 1999.

He worked as band director at Tabb Middle School in Yorktown, Va., from 1985 through 1998, at Southern Columbia Jr.-Sr. High School in Catawissa, Pa., from 1984 through 1985 and 1979 through 1980. From 1980 through 1984, he served as professional trombonist for the U.S. Air Force serving the northwest region of the United States.
