College of Education and Health Professions

Welcome to the College

I want to welcome you to the Web site of the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. If you are a student in the college, I hope you find this site helpful. If you are a prospective student, I hope the site will give you the information you need to determine if our college is the right fit for you.

The college is the second largest college at the University of Arkansas, with more than 3,500 students and more than 100 faculty members. We are a very unique college because we focus on two very important areas — education and health.

In other words, we prepare teachers for all levels of public school, school administrators, school researchers and policymakers, and special education teachers. We also prepare adult educators and professionals for higher education. On the health side, our college prepares nurses, health educators and administrators, and human performance researchers.

In addition, if you are interested in other human service fields, the college also has preparation programs in areas such as recreation, kinesiology, athletic training and speech-language pathology. All in all, there are 19 programs in five academic departments that offer bachelor's, master's, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.

Adding to the diversity of our college is the university's University Recreation Department, which provides recreational opportunities to students, including basketball, aerobics, swimming, kayaking and ice climbing. There are also 31 club sports teams in such diverse areas as rugby, ice hockey and paint ball.

Faculty and staff in the College of Education and Health Professions are some of the most recognized in their specialty areas in the entire country. They, along with me, welcome you to our college. Please browse our site and contact us if we can answer any questions or be of service to you. In our college, we prepare the professionals who touch people's lives every day. Please give us an opportunity to prepare you to make a difference.
