Michael T. Miller, professor of higher education in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, has been named the editor of the Journal of Research in Education.

The journal is the official publication of the Eastern Educational Research Association, an affiliate of the American Educational Research Association. The association's president, Auburn University's Professor David Shannon, called Miller an excellent leader who can "continue the excellent reputation of the journal and help expand its range of publication topics."

The 30-year old journal claims an acceptance rate of approximately 18 percent and has in the past featured articles by University of Arkansas faculty member Gary Ritter of the department of education reform.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for our program to gain some national visibility and to help several graduate students learn about the editing process," Miller commented.

He started his four-year term as editor this week and will begin selecting new editorial board members at the association's spring meeting in Hilton Head, S.C. He has been an active member of the association since 1990 and has previously served as associate editor of the journal and as director of the association's Special Interest Group on Higher Education.
