Licensure is an integral part of becoming a professional in various courses of study. The College of Education and Health Professions offers programs that lead to licensure in a wide variety of fields. The regulations governing the licensure of teachers in Arkansas are issued by the Arkansas Board of Education. Licensure rules and regulations are always subject to change due to current legislative or state departmental actions.

The degree of Master of Arts in Teaching is awarded upon the completion of one of the teacher preparation curricula offered in the College of Education and Health Professions on the Fayetteville campus. The Bachelor of Science in Education is awarded to those individuals who complete the program requirements housed on the NorthWest Arkansas Community College campus in Bentonville, Ark.

Arkansas law specifies that each application for a teacher's license or request to add an additional licensure area must be supported by the appropriate PRAXIS I and PRAXIS II score(s) as part of their Teacher Licensing Packet. The entire packet is distributed to the candidates in April at a general meeting held at both the Fayetteville and Bentonville campuses.
