College Leadership
The College of Education and Health Professions leadership team embraces a culture of caring that empowers people to thrive in all aspects of life.
Dean Kate Mamiseishvili
Kate Mamiseishvili serves as the dean of the College of Education and Health Professions and Henry G. Hotz Endowed Chair. Enrolling more than 6,000 students and employing over 370 faculty and staff, the college prepares students for careers in caring professions such as teaching, nursing, educational leadership and policy, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, public health, exercise science, sport management, outdoor recreation and more.
In 2023, soon after she was appointed, Dean Mamiseishvili rolled out a bold new vision for the college: WE CARE. An acronym for Wellness and Education Commitment to Arkansas Excellence, the WE CARE strategic plan set the stage for three core priorities that continue to guide the college today: advancing impactful research, fostering a caring culture, and expanding service to Arkansas through transformative educational opportunities and meaningful partnerships.
WE CARE is now an integral part of the college and has led to advances across the board. Dean Mamiseishvili established the Dean’s Executive Advisory Board, comprised of 40 alumni, community partners, and other stakeholders committed to the college’s success. Mamiseishvili also expanded research support infrastructure that led to over $56.5 million in external funding in the first two years of the WE CARE strategic plan, a 53% increase from the prior two years.
During her time as dean, the college has welcomed more than 60 new faculty members with diverse expertise, including a Whole Schools cluster hire of education and health scholars partnering to improve outcomes among Arkansas children. She has strengthened relationships with education and healthcare organizations in Arkansas through efforts such as providing internal Team Up for Education and Health funds to promote interdisciplinary collaborations, developing a mentoring program between students and alumni, coordinating WE CARE-A-VAN trips across the state, and more.
Dean Mamiseishvili joined the University of Arkansas in 2008. Prior to her role as dean, she served in vital leadership positions, including interim vice provost for academic affairs, associate dean for academic and student services, and department head. Dean Mamiseishvili received her Ph.D. and M.A. in educational leadership and policy analysis from the University of Missouri and a bachelor's degree in English language and literature from Akaki Tsereteli State University in the country of Georgia.
